How do you get the file date? Clipper was FILEDATE(), but I cannot find a similar function?

FileDate() is not a Clipper standard function I am afraid. Maybe is part of
CA-Tools. I don't know.
BTW, try this:
#include "directry.ch"
FUNCTION FileDate( cFile )
LOCAL aData := Directory( cFile, "H" )
LOCAL dDate
IF Len( aData ) > 0
dDate := aData[ 1, F_DATE ]
ENDIF
RETURN dDate
