Does this refer to the demo version, or just the retail version?
Can you just install this directly over the previous version (same
directories), or should you uninstall the old one first?

Both. Until now, Xailer binaries are the same for both demo and registered
version. The difference is about its register state.

No, you can install directly this version, overwriting the previous one or
doing a clean install.
