Hi,
Is there a way to get the exe file version?
I'm using the date/time to know if there is a new version, but it depend on the user's machine time.

Do you mean the own exe, that is, the exe file of the running program?
If so, please, take a look to nVersion, nRelease, nBuild and cVersion
properties from TApplication.

Via ftp? Sorry, I don't know any way to do that.
ITOH, if the FTP server is under your control to serve app updates or
so, the simplest way is to upload a .txt file containing that info.
Later, your app downloads that .txt and compares to itself in order to
determine if it needs to be updated, and then proceed to download the
installer app. That's how I use to do it, and has a valuable benefit...
every time your program check for an update, it downloads only a very
small .txt file, not the whole installer, so you saves a lot of bandwidth.

I did it and it's working fine

btw, TLabelEx seems to be not working well. I did some tests and the program stops responding. Then I changeg to Tlabel and everything worked fine.

TLabelEx only support a few html tags (<b>, <i>, <u> and <a>). It
doesn't support atributes in any tag, nor even in <a>. This last is used
only to change the look of the text, not to specify a destination URL (a
click on a text covered by <a> and </a> is triggered through OnLinkClick
event).
If your are getting something wrong, please, send us a very small sample
to reproduce it.
