Program Icon question

Mensaje por g.s.rogers »

I have my own icon identified in Project properties under the "Look" option,
yet when I compile the program the .exe has only the Xailer icon embedded in
it -- and, of course, that is the icon that shows next to the filename in
Windows Explorer.
How do I embed my own program icon?
TIA,
Gary

Gary,
If you have more than one icon in your application, the windows explorer
shows the first resource icon. I suggest you change its name with "AAA" for
example so it becomes the first icon on the list. I hope it helps.

I must be doing something else wrong because I don't have the Xailer icon in
the resource file. It is a 32x32 icon, however. Is that the problem? I
presume that the Xailer icon that shows up in Windows Explorer is coming
from some other place than the resource file.

Gary,
The icons are direclty attached to the executable by Xailer's IDE. Check the
icon defined in the project properties. The size should not be a problem
BTW.
You may also try with reshacker to see what is exactly inside the EXE file.

I have identified the icon I want in the project's properties and can
successfully use that icon on forms within the application. It's just the
program icon associated with the executable that seems to ignore what I have
specified in the project's properties. Is there any other step, other than
identifying which icon I want to use in the project properties?

Don't know how I finally got it to work, but I didn't have to rename the
resource name of the icon. I played with the Resource Manager, adding,
deleting and re-adding the icon there and recompiling the application. It
didn't seem to make any difference for several tries, then it worked.

Program Icon question

Mensaje por g.s.rogers »

Don't know how I finally got it to work, but I didn't have to rename the
resource name of the icon. I played with the Resource Manager, adding,
deleting and re-adding the icon there and recompiling the application. It
didn't seem to make any difference for several tries, then it worked.
