in the parameters dialog I can set the paths to harbour/hxarbor.
Is there a way to use xedit with plain old clipper to write plain old
character mode applications ?

No, it can be used only to compile Xailer programs. Anyway, it can be used
to edit any file, including xbase and C source.
In the future, it's possible that we enhance it to support Clipper or other
compilers, but then it will not be free.
