Xailer editor ... Alt_V does not paste on my Win7 pc??

Hi,
Has anyone had this before .... in the Xailer editor, Alt_V does NOT paste, it does nothing. Alt_D works, ALT_L works, everything else seems to work.
I have had this problem always with this new Windows 7 PC, for the last 12 months with 3.2 and 3.3 Xailer. I have tried different keyboards.
Alt_V works OK in Word, & Notepad
Alt_V works OK in Scite & Notepad++, both Scintilla based editors.
As I have no 'paste' in Xailer editor I have to do serious coding of my Xailer .prgs in another editor .... not ideal. I even have to type in the huge Xailer registration code from the email into the Xailer registration form manually!
I do not change the Editor configuration in any way.
Any ideas what may be wrong with my PC/Xailer combination.
Very difficult to live with, any thoughts please.

I guess you mean Ctrl+V. Please download new 3.3 version and tell me your results.

Thanks for jumping in promptly.
Oops ... yes I do mean CTRL_V
I have just downloaded 3.3 and I still have the problem.
It was the need to type in the Registration code manually that triggerered me to ask for help!
Have you experienced this problem with someone else?

Just to add ....
The right click context menu (that I don't think I knew existed ) shows the Paste as available, but does NOT seem to paste anything.
Even if I have something in my clipboard from non Xailer application I get no CTRL_V or right click paste.

Does Ctrl+V work properly on any of your Xailer apps?
Can you see the Clipboard history under the menu option Edit?
Do the Clipboard history menu items work?
Does the contextual menu item paste work?

Hi,
CTRL_C, CTRL_V does work in Xailer app ... see screenshot
Edit->Clipboard History ... greyed out even after doing several CTRL_C block copies in .txt file .... see screenshot
Also see NotePad++ screenshot with Clipboard History working and showing the 'NEW NAME' from Xailer app and the Processmessages() that I successfully CTRL_C & CTRL_V pasted 3 times.

Hi,
Tried the new .exe
When I did a CTRL_D or mayve a CTRL_C it gave a xailer error message. I did not capture that screen.
When I go back in to the new .exe I get an immediate error as the IDE loads.

Hi,
The latest exe runs without error.
Loaded a .prg for edit.
Selected 2 lines with mouse, CTRL_C, moved to new location, CTRL_V .... nothing.
Did this two times.
Latest log.txt attached.

File updated.
Now every time a text is copied to the clipboard you should see it in a MessageBox. The key combination Ctrl+W should show the current clipboard value.
Please confirm they work as expected. TIA.

Tried to use new .exe
when CTRL_W pressed I get a GPF ... see image
Have tried several times .... see log.txt
I am out for the rest of the afternoon so may miss your reply, but will resond over the weekend.

Thanks for all. Is really difficult to avoid GPF's on remote mode. File updated any way to avoid it. (I hope)
BTW, please check you are not running Xailer on any compatibility mode.
Another test please: Does Ctrl+V works for example on any IDE dialog?

Hello Chris,
I have updated the file. Now it gives extra information calling the API function GetLastError().
You can also try to disable the Clipboard history adding on xailer.cfg, section OPTIONS this line:
ClipboardHistory=.F.

Hola, I am back,
I tried the latest.exe which after MsgBox( "Hola" ) gives a run time error.
error.txt and log.txt attached.
I do not feel I am using any compatibility mode.
I tried CTRL_V in the Tools->Add section of the IDE .... no paste. Screenshot attached.
I will try the disable option in a few minutes and report back.
If at some time you would like to use my PC we could use LogMeIn or TeamViewer to achieve it.

Will monitor this over the weekend, but maybe you should take 2 days off as you have been busy on 3.3.

Hi,
With ClipBoardHistory=.F. and latest special xailer.exe
Clipboard History is greyed in Edit menu & Editor Context menu, and CTRL_V does NOT do anything.
With ClipBoardHistory removed from .cfg .... CTRL_V does nothing and ALT_V does GPF ... see attached.
I think I am getting confused now ... enough for today.
Offer still stands of LogMeiIn or TeamViewer which may help you?

Chris,
are you using any plugin in the IDE which could be mapping the Ctrl+V key
for its own use?
Also, it may be worth a try to unload any plugin and restart the IDE to see
if the problem still arises.

Chris,
what security software are you using? Please, check if you are running
Xailer.exe in a sandbox which avoids Xailer to reach the clipboard. I
use Comodo Internet Security, and it avoids the programs to use
printers, causing errors. It could be something similar to the problem
you have.
BTW, have you tried XEdit? Please, test it and check if it can paste
text in the editor or any other control. Also, please, rename Xailer.exe
into i.e. IDE.exe to force the security software to detect it as a new
program and ask for permission. If it already fails, try to disable the
security software.

Thanks for jumping and apologies for being slow in responding.
Not using anything clever in the IDE, just installed Xailer, nothing clever.
XEdit suffers from the same problem.
But .... see reply to the other Jose ... some progress.

You are on the right track here as I have some progress.
I use Webroot 'Security Anywhere' a fairly lightweight AV which has never given me any problems.
But I disabled this and suddenly Xailer 2.3 and XEdit 3.2 are cut & pasting with clipboard history no problem.
Interestingly if I then enable Webroot again, I can still cut and paste OK .... maybe the clipboard is a file that needs to be created which Webroot is preventing, then if the file exists Webroot will happily use it???
So I Thought was solved but .... I just try again to cut & paste in Xailer with Webroot running and cut & paste does not work.
Maybe its not working again because I have exited Xailer/XEdit and it cant make this file again.
I will investigate further and report back.
All I can say is that Scite and NotePad++ have never given this problem with Webroot ... so they must do things slightly differently.

nope, there's no such file that I am aware of. Xailer and XEdit stores the
clipboard history in memory.

It does appear that all my problems have come from Webroot Secure Anywhere which has blocked some parts of my various Xailer.exes and XEdit.exe in its "Identity Protection" feature.
Supposedly this stops things that it suspects may lead to identity theft.
It has done this with no warning dialogues which is not a good way to program.
I have now disabled this Webroot feature and Xailer & XEdit are working fine.
NotePad++ and Scite, not common programs, have not been blocked by Webroot for whatever reason .... maybe they do the CTRL_C/CTRL_W in a slightly different way.
So I have to apologise for wasting your time on this problem but I thank you for taking it seriously and helping me find the problem.
Thank you also for 3.3 .... lots of improvemnts when you explore every menu option.

When I saw your message, I thought it could be a security software
issue, since I also fought many times to this kind of problems.
